TZIP

PATENTED VOTS PRODUCTS

Temperature-set Zone Isolation Packer – TZIP

What is it?
• A Zone Isolation Packer run as a part of the Completion.
• Used mainly for Steam Injection wells in Heavy Oil reservoirs.
• Autonomous activation mechanism.
• Maintains pressure integrity with High Temp sealing technology

Why use it?
• Gives control of steam distribution into selected reservoir zones.
• Tubing to Casing sealing element is protected during installation.
• No surface manipulation for activation is required.
• Floating Packer design makes it free to move inside casing.
• Robust field-proven design.
• Can be retrieved from wellbore.

How to use it?
• The TZIP is made up as a part of the Well Completion.
• It is spaced out and positioned between perforated zones.
• The activation happens when hot steam is injected into the well.
• The TZIP is retrieved together with the Well Completion tubing.

How do we know if it works?
• Well Logging with spinner can measure where the steam flow goes.
• Temperature and Pressure logs can also be used.

What are the competing products or solutions?
• Cup Packer units
• Swell Packers

Competing products or solutions: Swell Packers
• Elastomers used for Swell Packers becomes weak at high temp.
• Swell Packers cannot withstand much axial movement without tearing.

Competing products or solutions: Cup Packer units
• HT Elastomers used for Cup Packers are expensive (FFKM)
• The Packer Cup seals are rubbing against the casing wall when conveyed into the wellbore, which may affect sealing ability.
• Products including EPDM are not HC resistant
